Furst Friedrich (Furst Piccolo x Apart)
In 2009 whilst training in Germany, Jayden was fortunate enough to be given the ride on the imposing gelding Furst Friedrich. Originally this partership was only supposed to last a few months so that his owner, Dr Anna Mehls could organise her wedding.
After a few weeks of training it became quite clear that Jayden and this leggy young horse were a well matched team. The timing was just right as Jayden's previous FEI horse Widelo had just been sold to California, so Jayden made an offer to buy the 6yo Friedrich.
At the time of taking over the ride on Friedrich, he was competing at A(novice) level in Germany but had only entered in one competition. Jayden and Friedrich began competing at A and L (elementary) level and earned some very positive scores. After some initiall nerves and a particular distaste for the judges box, Friedrich recieved scores up to 79% in Elementary level competitions. Shortly before flying to Australia, Friedrich entered his first competition at Medium level and although there were a few mistakes he was rewarded with a 70% score.
During the time that Friedrich and Jayden trained in Germany they were also invited to be the judges 'warm up' riders at the World Championships for Young horses in Verden. It was a great experience for both horse and rider to be exposed to such high quality judges at the biggest competition for young horses in the world. Although Friedrich was spooky and nervous in the intimidating arena, the judges were impressed by his quality paces and awarded scores up to 8.2.
Over the christmas period of 2009, Friedrich successfully managed the transition into his first Australian summer. With a few months to consolidate his training, 'Freddy' will be ready to tackle the South East Qld competitions. Our plan is to begin the year at Medium and Advanced levels and build a little more confidence in the competition arena before starting at Prix St George level.
Widelo
Now sold to America
Widelo is an 8 year old gelding by Weltmeyer, out of a Rocadero mare. He is without a doubt the star of Sarova Park and he likes everyone to know it.
Widelo was purchased in August 2006 as a slightly wild 7 year old. He was only working at prelim/novice level but with Jayden on board he developed a fantastic attitude towards his work and is now a Qld State Elite Squad member and competitive at Small Tour level.
Widelo entered his first ever competition soon after Jayden bought him and came home with a 3rd place at DNSW clarendon event, finishing closely behind Australian Champion Donna Carina. After moving back to Brisbane, he competed in the summer series competitions for more experience. Widelo scored over 75% in his first Elementary and Medium tests.
Early in 2007, he was entered in his first Advanced competition. Widelo performed extremely well in his first 'indoor' competition and came home with another 1st place. After being granted special consideration to compete at PSG level, Widelo had his first start in April 2007. This was the first time Widelo was up against our state squad horses, yet again he came home with 1st place in his first ever FEI test. Due to his good performances, Widelo was added to the National YR squad and competed well in CDI-Y qualifiers.
Widelo has started 2008 off with great success. He has so far won all three CDI-Y world cup qualifiers with great scores. He is so far the only Australian horse to have the required qualifying scores to compete in the World Cup in Frankfurt! Widelo has also made his debut at Intermediate 1 level and has won Small Tour Champion at the Qld Young Rider Championships and at the Brenda Whittman Classic.
