June & July
The halfway point for the year has been and gone, with the past two months being extremely busy! The 2010 Mitavite QLD Festival of Dressage was held at the begining of July and it was a fantastic day. All organisers and volunteers did a great job and the festival continues growing each year into a bigger and better experience. Jayden and Dallas (Davrol Warmbloods) opened the festival with a Pas De Deux along with Jocely Hutton riding Donahugh. It was entertaining and a brilliant way to kick off the festival. Jayden and Furst Friedrich participated in two demonstrations later on in the day, one with Gary Lung and the other with Jenny Gerhke.
Brenda Whittman Classic was held in July, it was a tiring weekend for Jayden with three horses but was very rewarding with all horses performing extremely well. Jayden and his own Furst Friedrich achieved Champion Medium and Advanced horse. For Davrol Warmbloods, Jayden competed Dallas and Fidelity who both had placings and good scores amongst a tough field of competitors.
Jayden had a quick trip to New Zealand for three days to ride some horses. As a result of this trip to New Zealand, Jayden has acquired the ride on Leonardo Da Vinci (by Lauries Crusader). He is currently in transit from New Zealand and will arrive in Brisbane in late July. Another new horse for the Sarova Park stables is Lagerfeld F from Nicholas Fyffe's stables. Jayden is looking forward to campaigning both horses later this year.
While Jayden was in Auckland he caught up with Andrea Bank, who is also a student of Leonie Bramall's and one of New Zealand's up and coming dressage combinations with her lovely stallion Doringcourt (North Park Equestrian).
May
It has been a busy few weeks for the Sarova Park horses with our first Championship event of the season. In Toowoomba, Furst Friedrich (Furst Piccolo x Apart) was named the Medium and Advanced champion as well as winning his first Kur at Advanced level. Jayden Also competed both of Kate Wilson's lovely imported mares, Dallas (Dacaprio x Cashman) and Fidelity (Farewell 3 x Welt Hit 0). Dallas came away with 2nd in the Elementary class just behind Jayden's coach, Jenny Gerhke and Fairbanks Jazz Time. Fidelity stepped into the competition arena for the very first time and impressed us all with her good behaviour. Fidelity placed 6th in the preliminary class.
Our home bred gelding Wistari SP also stepped out into the competition arena for the first time since 2008, Jocelyn Hutton rode Wistari to some very good placings.
More success for SP horses at the recent Park Ridge event. Dallas performed well to take away a 2nd and 4th in the Medium classes. Furst Friedrich convincingly won the Advanced class and at just 7yo made his debut at Prix St George level and narrowly missed out on first place to take the second prize. We are very excited to see how Friedrich developes at this level over the next few months.
March 2010
March has been another successfull month for the Sarova Park horses. Unfortunately the wet weather cancelled some competitions at the begining of the month but with the RASDEG Official Dressage competition our horses have been able to slowly get back into the swing of the competition season.
Furst Friedrich (Furst Piccolo x Apart) had an extremely good show at Redlands, winning both Advanced classes. Even more impressive were his scores of 69% and 76%. The 2010 competition season is looking good for "Freddy' with this being only his second competition in Australia and also at this level.
Kate Wilson's mare Dallas (Dacaprio x Cashman) also had a successful show with a first place in the Medium class. This was also the second competition at this level for Dallas, so we can expect good things from her as the season continue's.
Looking ahead to April, Freddy and Dallas will be competing locally as well as a possible start for Freddy in the Sydney CDI. Freddy and I have also been fortunate enough to be invited to the Australian Youth Developement camp to be held in Sydney as well as take part in the Judges workshop held in conjunction with the Sydney CDI.
February 2010
The 2010 competition season has had a fantastic start with Furst Friedrich, Dallas and Sarova Alabama competing and placing well at the Toowoomba 1* dressage competition. In his first competition, Alabama(Jaybee Alabaster x Aachimedes) was 2nd in the Preliminary class on 69% and also scored well in the Novice with 64%. In the Elementary class, Dallas (Dacaprio x Cashman) was first with 70% and in her first Medium start, she was 4th with 67%. Also in the Medium was Furst Friedrich (Furst Piccolo x Apart) who was 2nd with 70%, just behind Jayden's coach, Jenny Gerhke on Fairbanks Jazz Time. Friedrich also started in the Advanced class, coming away with a win on 66%.
All of our horses performed extremely well, considering the long break since their last competitions in 2009.
February has also seen yet another fantastic clinic with Leonie Bramall where alot of valuble training has been done and our preparation for the 2010 competitions season is looking good. Friedrich and Dallas both attended the clinic and on Leonie's final day in Australia, took part in the Queensland Dressage Forum. Kate Wilson, who is the owner of Dallas, did a fantastic job of organising and hosting the clinic's as well as getting Leonie to the forum venue at Caboolture through the huge downpour of rain. 'Freddy' and Dallas both did well to cope with the atmosphere, with alot of people crowded into the arena as well as the water flooding around the grounds.
December 2009
As 2009 has come to end we can look back at a very successfull competition year. Spending the majority of 09 riding in Germany with Leonie Bramall and the hard work has definately paid off. With over 23 placings and 5 wins in National and International classes on the horses; Widelo, Furst Friedrich, Hindenburg, Zospecial, Furstin Bolera, Firlefanze, Hi Five and Fairbanks Jazz Time. The year ended on a highly positive note, taking home two Championships from the Sunshine Coast Championships on Jazz Time and the safe arrival of my newest star Furst Friedrich.
